The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Fish products are subject to recall:

  • Young’s branded Chip Shop Fish Cakes, sold in six (6)-pack of frozen fish weighing approximately 300 grams with a best-before end date and batch/lot designations of January 2019: AAL 7209K & AAL 7209L and February 2019: AAK 7222J & AAL 7222K

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, this recall was initiated due to suspected plastic fragment and metal fragment contamination.

If you have bought any of the above food products do not consume nor serve them. Instead, return the Frozen Fish Cakes to the store from where you purchased it for a full refund.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
