US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Kimchi Hot Pot Soup Base Recall [US]JFC International Inc., a Los Angeles, California establishment, recalls all current batch/lots of Kimchi Hot Pot Soup Base due to undeclared Crustacean Shellfish, specifically Crab and Shrimp, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Hot Pot Soup Base products are subject to this recall:

  • Daisho Kimchi Hot Pot Soup Base, sold in 1.6-pound pouches with a UPC of 49 04621 04221 9

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, JFC International has recalled all current batch/lots of Kimchi Hot Pot Soup Base due to undeclared Crustacean Shellfish, specifically Crab and Shrimp.

The products were distributed between 10/01/16 and 01/31/18 to retail stores and other foodservice operators in the states of AK, AZ, CA, CT, DC, DE, HI, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, MI, MO, NE, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, TX, UT, VA, WA and WI.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Hot Pot Soup Base products and could be allergic to their Crab and/or Shrimp ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
