EU issues 50 Product, Toy & Vehicle Recalls

FlagEUBelgium/Brussels: The European Union issues Report 04-2018 of its Rapid Alert System containing 50 new consumer, automotive and industrial-based product recalls; a must-read for parents, caregivers, drivers, health and safety workers, company owners, supervisors and others:

Among the 50 recalls the European Union has announced in its fourth report of January 2018 the following notification was made:

G-Tron Classic FC SNES Game Controllers Report 04/2018G-Tron Classic FC SNES Game Controllers, sold with a model model of JG-SNES204 and a barcode/UPC of 780625158453.

The type of hazards presented in this recalled product include Short-Chain Chlorinated Paraffins (“SCCPs”), measuring value 5.3%, in the black wires connected to the Coltrollers. The placing on the market and use of articles containing SCCPs is banned.

SCCPs persist in the environment, are toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms at low concentrations and bioaccumulate in wildlife and humans, posing a risk to human health and the environment.

These Game Controllers, therefore, does not comply with the requirements of European’s health and safety legislation, specifically on Persistent Organic Pollutants (i.e., the “POP Regulation”) and has been ordered withdrawn from the marketplace.
