Canada/Ottawa: Imperial Caviar & Seafood Trout Roe Recall Update [Canada]Imperial Caviar & Seafood expands its existing recall for certain batch/lots of Imperial Caviar & Seafood brand and VIP Caviar Club brand Trout Roe to include additional Imperial Caviar & Seafood brand and VIP Caviar Club brand Whitefish and Salmon Roe products. The original recalled was initiated due to suspected risk of Clostridium botulinum contamination, consequential bacterial infection and risk of illness, all serious health hazards. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Salmon and Whitefish Roe products are subject to this recall:

  • VIP Caviar Club brand Salmon Roe brand, sold in 50 gram tubs with product codes 22917-01 and BB-17-AUG-18 and a UPC of 1 86866 90024 8
  • VIP Caviar Club brand Salmon Roe brand, sold in 50 gram tubs with product codes 27617-01 and BB-03-OCT-18 and a UPC of 1 86866 90024 8
  • VIP Caviar Club brand Salmon Roe brand, sold in 50 gram tubs with product codes 07517-01
    and BB/MA:16-MAR-18 and a UPC of 1 86866 90024 8
  • Outer package marked as Imperial Caviar & Seafood, outer package marked as Golden Whitefish Roe with a product code 290518 and a UPC of 1 86866 00012 2
  • Inner package marked as VIP Caviar Club, inner package marked as Golden Whitefish Roe with product code of 14017-01 and BB/MA: 29-MAI-2018

According to the CFIA, Imperial Caviar & Seafood has recalled certain batch/lots of Imperial Caviar & Seafood brand and VIP Caviar Club brand Whitefish and Salmon Roe from the marketplace because they may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Salmon or Whitefish Roe products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
