Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Multivitamins are subject to this warning:

  • Flintstones Plus Iron Multivitamins, sold with an NPN of 02247995

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Multivitamins can be found on the Web site above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, expiry dates or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to Health Canada, it is advising Canadians that one (1) bottle of Children’s Flintstones Plus Iron Multivitamins with an NPN of 02247995 was returned to a pharmacy containing unidentified capsules instead of the proper chewable tablets, which are multi-coloured tablets shaped like Flintstones characters. The opened bottle with the safety seal removed was returned to a Pharmaprix in Longueuil, Quebec, in December 2017.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Multivitamins, please do not use them nor administer the over-the-counter (“OTC”) medication to your child. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Please note at the time of this release, Health Canada and the manufacturer, Bayer Inc., are aware of only one incident involving this product.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm drug poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any drug, return it to your retailer or pharmacist for refund. Do not toss out the suspect medication in your household garbage, and making sure that small children and pets can’t access the suspect drugs.

Further, Health Canada suggests the following safety precautions:

  • Inspect the bottle to be sure the bottle contains the proper chewable tablets before giving to a child. In general, check any health product before consuming it to make sure it appears as expected. If in doubt, check with a pharmacist.
  • Check product packaging before buying to make sure they have not been opened, torn, damaged or otherwise tampered with.
  • Consult with your physician or other qualifies healthcare professional if your child has consumed unidentified capsules and have health concerns.
  • Contact Bayer Inc. with any concerns about this product by calling toll-free at 1-800-714-4449 as noted above.
