Among the 19 recalls the European Union has announced in its second report of January 2018, the following notification was made:

Tuincentrum Overvecht/Diervoordeel Teddy Bear Toy Recall [EU]Tuincentrum Overvecht/Diervoordeel branded Teddy Bear Plush Toys, sold with a model number of 5520200282 and a barcode/UPC of 8718902280414. The type of hazards presented in these recalled Teddy Bear Toys include the finding that the Toy’s eyes can easily detach due to normal child play.

If this defect occurs, the resultant small parts can be placed in the mouth by the child who can either swallow them or inhale them. This hazard, therefore, creates the risk of oral injury, choking, ingestion and GI tract laceration damage. If inhaled, the detached Eyes could block the airway causing respiratory difficulties, tracheal occlusion and/or death by asphyxiation.

As such, these Teddy Bear Toys do not comply with the requirements of Europe’s Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71-1 and have been ordered recalled from marketplace.

==> Do not let your child play or access the recalled Teddy Bear Plush Toys. Instead, return the Teddy Bears to the store or online outlet from which you purchased them for a full refund.
