The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Animal Entrail products are subject to recall:

  • Haggis Bungs, sold in one (1) pound, two (2) pound and 4 (four) pound packages with use-by dates of 20/12/17, 27/12/17, 03/01/18 or 10/01/18
  • Haggis 4 Slice, sold in 300 gram packages with use-by dates of 20/12/17, 27/12/17, 03/01/18 or 10/01/18
  • Black and White Pudding 4 Slice, sold in 300 gram packages with use-by dates of 20/12/17, 27/12/17, 03/01/18 or 10/01/18

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Haggis, Black Pudding and White Pudding can be found on the Web site above.

According to the FSA, manufacturing controls that could potentially affect the safety of the products listed above could not be demonstrated satisfactorily by the company.

The issue relates to controlling factors to prevent the growth and toxin production of Clostridium botulinum. Botulinum toxin may cause a serious form of food poisoning called Botulism and can be fatal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Haggis, Black Pudding and White Pudding products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
