Canada/Ottawa: Costco Kirkland Signature Croissants Recall [Canada]Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. recalls certain batch/lots of Kirkland Signature brand All Butter Croissants due to suspected plastic fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, a serious health hazard. Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Butter Croissants are subject to this recall:

  • Kirkland Signature branded All Butter Croissants, sold in 12-Croissant packages with a best-before date 18/JA/07, a packaged-on date of 18/JA/05 with a UPC 0 00010 46334 5
  • Kirkland Signature branded All Butter Croissants (Frozen, Uncooked), sold in 204 by 85 gram-Croissant packages with a produced-on date of 01/02/18, a packaged-on date of 18/JA/05 with a UPC 0 00010 46391 8

According to the CFIA, Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. has recalled certain batch/lots of Kirkland Signature brand All Butter Croissants due to suspected plastic fragment contamination, as follows:

  • The Kirkland Signature brand All Butter Croissants were sold from the following locations in Ontario:
    • Costco Barrie at 41 Mapleview Dr. East, Barrie
    • Costco London South at 4313 Wellington Rd. South, London
    • Costco London North at 693 Wonderland Rd. North, London
    • Costco Newmarket at 18182 Yonge St., Newmarket
    • Costco Etobicoke at 50 Queen Elizabeth Blvd., Etobicoke
  • The Kirkland Signature brand All Butter Croissants (Frozen, Uncooked) were sold from the following locations in Ontario:
    • Costco Newmarket at 18182 Yonge St., Newmarket
    • Costco Etobicoke at 50 Queen Elizabeth Blvd., Etobicoke

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Butter Croissants, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
