Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Ham products are subject to this recall:

  • Tasso Cajun Spicy Ham Ready To Eat, sold in five (5)-pound vacuum packs shipped in ten (10)-pound cases with batch/lot codes 1631317, 1635517, 1635217 or 35217

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear the establishment number “Est. 13244” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The items were distributed for institutional use in the New Orleans metropolitan area.

The problem was discovered on January 4, 2018, when another federal establishment that was further processing the product noticed that the Ready-To-Eat {“RTE”) Tasso Ham product appeared to be raw and not cooked as marked. Upon investigation, US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) Inspection Program Personnel verified that some of the Tasso Ham products were indeed underprocessed and could be undercooked.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Ready-To-Eat Tasso Ham, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the distributor or outlet where you purchased it for a full refund.
