Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Shredded Coconut products are subject to this recall:

  • Coconut Tree Brand Frozen Shredded Coconut, sold in 16-ounce mostly clear, plastic bags with green printing and a batch/lot designation of SE07A1.

Due to the fact that the batch/lot number is only printed on the case (i.e., not on the individual bags), it may not obvious if a particular batch/lot might be contaminated. Any customer, therefore, who purchased this Shredded Coconut product from January 3, 2017 through January 3, 2018, should consider the product potentially contaminated with Salmonella.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Evershing International Trading Company is recalling 16-ounce bags of Coconut Tree Brand Frozen Shredded Coconut because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella,

==> For information about Salmonellosis (Salmonella poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Shredded Coconut products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Coconut to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
