Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Apples are subject to this recall:

  • Honeycrisp Apples in two (2)-pound clear plastic bags,
  • Gala, Fuji and Golden Delicious Apples in three (3)-pound clear plastic bags;
  • Fuji and Gala Apples in five (5)-pound red-netted mesh bags; and
  • Gala, Fuji and Honeycrisp Apples that were tray-packed/individually sold.

The recalled Apples can be identified by the following lot numbers printed on the bag label and/or bag-closure clip:

  • Fuji: NOI 163, 165, 167, 169 and 174
  • Golden Delicious: NOI 168
  • Honeycrisp: NOI 159, 160 and 173
  • Gala: NOI 164 and 166 on either the product labels and/or bag-closure clip.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Jack Brown Produce has recalled certain batch/lots of Gala, Fuji, Honeycrisp and Golden Delicious Apples processed and shipped by one of its suppliers, Nyblad Orchards, Inc., from December 11, 2017 to December 16, 2017, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

This recall was initiated after routine sampling program at Nyblad Orchards found that finished Apple products contained Listeria monocytogenes. Jack Brown Produce, Inc. has ceased the distribution of any further products processed at Nyblad Orchards as the FDA.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Apples, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Apples to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
