The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Pork Salami are subject to this recall:

  • Marisa Premium Quality Genoa Salami Italian Brand, sold in 3-1/2 to 4-pound random weight of plastic wrapped packages of Pork Salami product with a pack date of September 14, 2017 and a lot code of 257-100161 printed in the upper right hand corner of the label.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the Pork Salami products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 4118” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in California.

The problem was discovered after the company received a complaint from a retail customer and notified US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) on December 11, 2017.

If plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Pork Salami, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
