Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Chicken and Turkey Salad Products are subject to this recall:

  • Trader Joe’s branded White Meat Chicken Salad with Celery, Carrots and Green Onions, sold in 10.5-ounce clear plastic individual serving packages with a use-by date range of November 10 to 21, 2017.
  • Trader Joe’s branded Curried White Chicken Deli Salad with Toasted Cashews, Green Onion and a bit of Honey, sold in 11.0-ounce clear plastic individual serving packages with a use-by date range of November 10 to 21, 2017.
  • Trader Joe’s Turkey Cranberry Apple Salad Turkey Breast Meat with Sweet Dried Cranberries, Tangy Green Apples, Pecans and Sage, sold in 10.25-ounce clear plastic individual serving packages with a use-by date range of November 10 to 21, 2017

According to the USDA, the Salads subject to recall bear establishment number “P-40299” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington.

The problem was discovered when the company received consumer complaints and subsequently notified the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) Inspection Program Personnel on November 17, 2017.

In general, if plastic, glass or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Chicken and Turkey Salad Products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
