The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Salads are subject to this recall:

  • Salad products packaged in clear, plastic clamshells with best-by dates located on the label of the package of 10/24/2017, 10/25/2017, 10/26/2017 or 10/27/2017.
    • BrightFarms Baby Spinach, sold in 4-ounce and 8-ounce packages
    • BrightFarms Spring Mix, sold in 4-ounce and 8-ounce packages
    • BrightFarms Spinach Blend, sold in 4-ounce packages
    • BrightFarms Baby Greens Blend, 4-ounce and 8-ounce packages
    • BrightFarms Baby Kale, 3-ounce packages
    • BrightFarms Baby Arugula, 4-ounce packages
    • BrightFarms Baby Romaine Mix, 4-ounce packages
  • Basil products, packaged in clear plastic clamshells with best-by dates located on the label of the package: 10/24/2017, 10/25/2017, 10/26/2017 or 10/27/2017.
    • BrightFarms Basil, sold in 0.75-ounce and 2-ounce packages
    • BrightFarms Thai Basil, sold in 0.75-ounce packages
    • BrightFarms Lemon Basil, sold in 0.75-ounce packages

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, BrightFarms has recalled the produce sold in Roundy’s Supermarkets due to the potential presence of E. coli at its Rochelle, Illinois (Ogle County) greenhouse farm.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Salads, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Salads to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
