Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Shredded Beef products are subject to this recall:

  • 28-ounce trays of H-E-B Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Shredded Beef with BBQ sauce with a use-by date of December 15 2017
  • 16-ounce trays of H-E-B Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Shredded Beef with BBQ sauce with a use-by date of December 15 2017

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Shredded Beef can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 7066” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Texas.

The problem was discovered on October 11, 2017, when J Bar B Foods received notification from its consignee that a consumer complaint had been received regarding foreign material, specifically plastic, in the product.

There have been no confirmed reports of injury or adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider.

If plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Shredded Beef products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
