The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Butter products are subject to this recall:

  • Chagnon brand Cultured Butter de la Haute-Yamaska Salted, sold in 3 kilogram packages with a batch/lot number of 265170407 and an unlisted UPC
  • Chagnon brand Cultured Butter de la Haute-Yamaska Unsalted, sold in 3 kilogram packages with a batch/lot number of 242170395 and an unlisted UPC
  • Chagnon brand Cultured Butter de la Haute-Yamaska Unsalted, sold in 225 gram packages with a batch/lot number of 242170395 and a UPC of 6360200531
  • Chagnon brand Cultured Butter de la Haute-Yamaska Salted, sold in 225 gram packages with a batch/lot number of 265170407 and a UPC of 6360200521

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Laiterie Chagnon Ltee. has recalled the above batch/lots of Chagnon brand Cultured Butter de la Haute-Yamaska due to suspected risk of Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) contamination.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cultured Butter products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
