The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Pitted Dates are subject to this recall:

  • Organic Deglet Noor Dates Pitted, sold in clear plastic bags varying in weight, bearing the “Natural Grocers” label with a packed-on date code of 198-17 and a random weight UPC starting with “200129”.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Natural Grocers branded Pitted Dates containing Coconut were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of Coconut. The product was distributed to 45 Natural Grocers stores located in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any packages of these recalled Pitted Dates and could be allergic to their Coconut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
