The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Preserves are subject to this recall:

  • Ziranwei (Chinese characters only) brand Dried Plums, sold in 130 gram packages; affected batch/lot or product codes: all codes where Sulphites are not declared on the label; UPC: 6 902141 325179
  • Ziranwei (Chinese characters only) brand Dried Plums (“Kaixin” in Chinese characters only), sold in 150 gram packages; affected batch/lot or product codes: all codes where Sulphites are not declared on the label; UPC: 6 902141 325179
  • Ziranwei (Chinese characters only) brand Dried Plums (“Qiaosuan” in Chinese characters only), sold in 150 gram packages; affected batch/lot or product codes: all codes where Sulphites are not declared on the label; UPC: 6 902141 325179
  • Ziranwei (Chinese characters only) brand Dried Plums (“Qingren” in Chinese characters only), sold in 150 gram packages; affected batch/lot or product codes: all codes where Sulphites are not declared on the label; UPC: 6 902141 325179
  • Ziranwei (Chinese characters only) brand Preserved Ginger, sold in 130 gram packages; affected batch/lot or product codes: all codes where Sulphites are not declared on the label; UPC: 6 902141 325179
  • Ziranwei (Chinese characters only) brand Preserved Mandrin, sold in 140 gram packages; affected batch/lot or product codes: all codes where Sulphites are not declared on the label; UPC: 6 902141 325179
  • Ziranwei (Chinese characters only) brand Sour Chinese Olive, sold in 200 gram packages; affected batch/lot or product codes: all codes where Sulphites are not declared on the label; UPC: 6 902141 325179

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Summer Star Trading Co. Ltd. has recalled certain batch/lots of Ziranwei brand Dried and Preserved Fruits and Vegetables from the marketplace because they contain Sulphites, an ingredient not declared on the respective product labels. People with an allergy or sensitivity to Sulphites should not consume the recalled products identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession these recalled Dried and Preserved Fruit and Vegetable products and could be allergic to their Sulphite (Sulfite) ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
