The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Drugs are subject to this recall:

  • Doctor Manzanilla brand Allergy & Decongestant Relief, sold in four (4) fluid ounce (118 ml) bottles with a batch/lot of 23221701, an expiry date of 05/19 and a UPC of 7 62558 00204 1
  • Doctor Manzanilla brand Cough & Cold, sold in four (4) fluid ounce (118 ml) bottles with a batch/lot of 23221701, an expiry date of 05/19 and a UPC of 7 62558 00316 1

==> No DINs or item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Mid Valley Pharmaceutical has recalled batch/lot number 23221701 of Doctor Manzanilla Cough & Cold and batch/lot number 23221701 of Doctor Manzanilla Allergy & Decongestant Relief Syrup due to potential Burkholderia cepacia contamination.

Foods or drugs contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia can potentially result in serious infections and may be life-threating in people with compromised immune systems. At press time, however, Mid Valley Pharmaceutical had not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm drug poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food or drug, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Syrups, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another preparation. Instead, return the Syrups to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
