The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Popcorn is subject to this recall:

  • Butter Popcorn, distributed in Michigan with a best-before date of 30NOV2017 and a UPC of 614156061992.
  • Gourmet Select brand Butter Popcorn, distributed in Wisconsin in 12-ounce bags with a best-before date of 24NOV2017 and a UPC of 899788002432.
  • Gold Emblem brand Butter Popcorn, distributed in California, Indiana, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas, Alabama, New Jersey, South Carolina and Florida in five (5)-ounce bags with best-before dates of 24NOV2017, 01DEC2017 and 30DEC2017 and a UPC of 05042844879.
  • Spartan brand Butter Popcorn, distributed in Michigan in 8-ounce bags with a best-before date of 01SEP2017 and a UPC of 011213027395.

According to the FDA, Dedinas-Franzak Enterprises has recalled certain bags of Gourmet Select, Gold Emblem and Spartan Butter Popcorn. The product may contain Milk and people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Popcorn and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
