According to the FSA, Chatsworth House has recalled various types of Patés and Rillettes because of concerns over the manufacturer’s procedures in place to control Clostridium botulinum. The products were manufactured by Cornish Charcuterie and relate to the recall the company undertook on 15 August 2017.

The issue relates to controlling factors to prevent the growth and toxin production of Clostridium botulinum. Botulinum toxin may cause a serious form of food poisoning called botulism and can be fatal.

==> For information about Botulism, please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Patés and Rillettes, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> To see other recalls and notifications caused by suspected Clostridium botulinum contamination, please search for “Botulinum” using the Search Box at the top of this page.
