Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cakes are subject to this recall:

  • Schnucks Bakery Deluxe Petite Cake Chocolate Iced Yellow, sold in small plastic cake domes weighing approximately 1.1 pounds (482 grams) with a sell-by date range from 8/12/17 to 8/14/17 and a UPC of 41318 31168

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Cakes can be found on the Web site above.

According to the FDA, Schnucks Bakery has recalled certain batch/lots of Schnucks Bakery Deluxe Petite Cake Chocolate Iced Yellow that were actually, German Chocolate Cakes, a Cake made from a different recipe. The German Chocolate Cakes contain Pecan Nuts that are not listed on the ingredient label.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Cakes and could be allergic to their Pecan Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
