Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Ham products are subject to this recall:

  • Lou’s Garrett Valley Natural, All Natural Black Forest Seasoned Uncured Ham Nugget, Fully Cooked Wood Smoked, 1.75-pound of vacuum-packed mini ham packages with a case code of 74045.

According to the USDA, the Ham products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 2000” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to a distributor in New Jersey and further distributed to retail locations.

The problem was discovered when the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) Office of Public Health Science (“OPHS”) received a consumer complaint on July 11, 2017 with regard to a mislabeling of Lou’s Garret Valley Black Forest Seasoned Uncured Ham Nugget produced by Hahn Brothers Incorporated. The complainant noted that malted barley is listed as an ingredient on the company’s website, but is not listed as an ingredient on the product label.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession these recalled Ham and could be allergic to their Barley ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
