Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Ground Beef Products are subject to this recall:

  • Certified Angus Beef Ground Chuck 80% Lean 20% Fat, pckaged by JBS USA Inc. and sold in two (2)-pound black Styrofoam plastic wrapped trays with a production date 7/15/17 and batch/lot case code of 541640.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 34176” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to a distribution center in North Carolina for further distribution.

The problem was discovered on July 29, 2017, when the establishment was made aware of foreign materials, specifically shredded pieces of Styrofoam packaging, in the product.

In general, if plastic fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Ground Beef Products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
