US FlagUS/Washington: Hy-Vee brand Pepperoni Pizza Recall [US]D & D Foods, Inc. recalls an estimated 17,847 pounds of Hy-Vee brand Pepperoni Pizza products due to suspected mislabeling and consequential Soy Lecithin, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Pizza products are subject to this recall:

  • Hy-Vee branded Pepperoni Pizza 16″ – Thin Crust, sold in cases containing four (4) – 32-ounce, individually packaged Pizzas with a case code of 88943
  • Hy-Vee branded Pepperoni Pizza 12″ – Traditional Crust, sold in cases containing four (4) – 27-ounce, individually packaged Pizzas with a case code of 88901
  • Hy-Vee branded Pepperoni Pizza 16″ – Traditional Crust, sold in cases containing four (4) – 47-ounce, individually packaged Pizzas with a case code of 88929
  • Hy-Vee Pepperoni Pizza 12″ – Thin Crust, sold in cases containing four (4) – 19-ounce, individually packaged Pizzas with a case code of 88915

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. M21275” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Minneapolis.

The problem was discovered on July 22, 2017 by US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”)’s Inspection Program Personnel while performing routine label verification activities.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Pizzas and could be allergic to their Soy ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
