Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Portable Butane Heaters are subject to this recall:

  • Gasmate Portable Butane Heaters, Variable Temperature Control, sold with Piezo ignitions, AGA certification and able to operate on Gasmate G210L butane cartridges for approximately three (3) hours (these cartridges are sold separately). The recalled Portable Butane Heaters carry a SKU of BH10PL and a UPC/barcode number of 9314388063771

Please consult the photograph above for details of the Butane Heaters’ packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Butane Heaters are pictured on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, the instructions for the Portable Butane Heaters state “OUTDOOR USE ONLY” but if they are missing, covered over or not adhered to by the user and if the Butane Heater is used on the lowest possible heat, dangerous combustion gas by-products in the form of Carbon Monoxide may be produced.

If the Gasmate Butane Heaters are used in a confined small unvented space, (i.e., a small tent or enclosed indoor room — especially those without full and active ventilation), a hazardous situation of dangerous combustion gas by-products may be created, posing a possible Asphyxiation and/or Combustion hazard.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm Carbon Monoxide poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any Butane Heater, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Portable Butane Heaters, do not use them in your home, workplace or recreational area. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If you have any questions about this recall, please contact Sitro Group’s customer service line on 1300 174 876 or return to place of purchase for a full refund of the product.
