Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Freeze Dried Breakfast Foods are subject to this recall:

  • Mountain House Freeze Dried Spicy Southwest Breakfast Hash, sold in 3.88-ounce plastic pouches with batch/lot of 3253174 and best-by date of December 2046.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Beef can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the product subject to recall bears establishment number “EST. 1394” inside the USDA mark of inspection. This item was shipped to retail locations nationwide and sold directly to consumers through internet sales.

The problem was discovered when an employee reported finding pieces of rubber in the Freeze Dried Beef.

In general, if rubber, plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Freeze Dried Beef, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
