US FlagUS/Washington:Embutidos Fanguito Pork Chorizo Recall [US] Embutidos Fanguito, Inc. recalls an estimated  total of 984 pounds of Pork Chorizo due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Soy and Monosodium Glutamate (“MSG”), both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Pork products are subject to this recall:

  • Two (2)-ounce sealed packages containing Embutidos El Fanguito Chorizo with a sell-by date of Sept. 17, 2017. This product consists of 530 pounds of fresh, sliced Pork Chorizo products produced and packed on various dates from October 16, 2016 through June 16, 2017.
  • Eight (8)-ounce sealed packages containing six slices of Jamon Vicky Lasqueado Smoked Flavor Added Sliced Cooked Ham & Water Product. This product consists of 454 pounds of Pork products produced and packaged on various dates from April 18, 2017 to June 13, 2017.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the Pork products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 45659” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Florida.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Pork products and could be allergic to their Soy and/or Monosodium Glutamate (“MSG”) ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
