The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Biltong Beef products are subject to recall:

  • The Biltong Farm brand Biltong Beef, all package sizes, with all current batch/lot codes and a best-before date of February 2018. Biltong is dried meat flavoured with herbs and spices, similar but not identical to Beef Jerky. The following flavours are included in this recall:
    • Original flavour
    • Per-Peri flavour
    • Sriracha flavour
    • Black Pepper flavour
    • Garlic flavour
    • Biltong Original Powerstix flavour
    • Biltong Sriracha Powerstix flavour
    • Hadanero Inferno flavour
    • Carolina Reaper Chilli Tandoori flavour

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, this product contains undeclared Celery. If you have an allergy to Celery, you should not consume the Beef product identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Biltong Beef products and could be allergic to their Celery ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
