Canada/Ottawa: Cookie Dough, Pie & Tart Shell Recall [Canada]Country Pantry Bulk Foods, In-Dey-Go Fundraising Inc., Mildmay Cheese Haus recall various batch/lots of Cookie Dough, Pie Shells and Tart Shells due to suspected risk of Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) O121 contamination and consequential bacterial infection, a serious health hazard. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Cookie Dough, Pie Shells and Tart Shells are subject to this recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Apple Valley branded Shell Pie Deep Unsweetened 5″ diameter Shells, sold in 6.8 kilogram packages with product code designations of 2017-12-06, 2017-12-20 and 2017-12-21 and a UPC of 00 687415 80500 2. Additional information: this product was sold in Ontario from Country Pantry Bulk Foods, 3048 Lobsinger Line, Heidelberg, Ontario. Please note: the recalled product was intended for sale to hotels, restaurants and institutions.
  • Apple Valley branded Shell Pie Unsweetened 8″ diameter Shells, sold in 4.0 kilogram packages with product code designations of 2017-12-08 or 2017-12-22 and a UPC of 687415 80802 7. Additional information: this product was sold in Ontario from Country Pantry Bulk Foods, 3048 Lobsinger Line, Heidelberg, Ontario. Please note: the recalled product was intended for sale to hotels, restaurants, and institutions.
  • In-Dey-Go Fundraising Inc. branded Dark Chocolate / White Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough, sold in 1.22 kilogram packages with a product code designation of 17039 but no listed UPC. Additional information: this product was sold nationally through various schools and fundraising organizations.
  • Mildmay Cheese Haus branded 2″  diameter Tart Shells, sold in 40 pieces (weighing approximately 1.5 pounds) with packed-on date codes ranging from 03-FE-17 to 10-JN-17 and a UPC that begins with 0 201485. Additional information: this product was distributed in Ontario at Mildmay Cheese Haus.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Country Pantry Bulk Foods, In-Dey-Go Fundraising Inc., Mildmay Cheese Haus have recalled various batch/lots of Cookie Dough, Pie Shells and Tart Shells due to suspected risk of Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) O121 contamination and consequential bacterial infection, You should not consume the recalled products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cookie Dough, Pie Shells and Tart Shells, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store, distributor or outlet where you purchased it for a full refund.

This notification may be related to a continuing recall of certain Baked Goods due to Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) O121 contaminated-Baking Flour. If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the contaminated Baking Flour or Baking Flour-based Baked Goods, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store, distributor or outlet where you purchased it for a full refund.
