The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Soybean Sprouts are subject to this recall

  • One (1)-pound bags of Soybean Sprouts packaged and sold in clear plastic bags labeled “GOODSEED Soy Bean Sprouts” and “Keep Refrigerated” with a UPC of 21111 10035, produced on or after May 1, 2017.
  • Two (2)-pound bags of Soybean Sprouts packaged and sold in clear plastic bags labeled “GOODSEED Soy Bean Sprouts” and “Keep Refrigerated” with a UPC of 21112 58772, produced on or after May 1, 2017.
  • Ten (10)-pound bags of Soybean Sprouts packaged and sold in black plastic bags labeled with a sticker “GOODSEED Soy Bean Sprouts” produced on or after May 1, 2017. No UPC was listed for this product.

According to the FDA, the Soybean Sprouts were distributed to retail stores in Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia. The potential for contamination was noted after routine surveillance sampling by the Virginia Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Program and subsequent testing by the Virginia Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in sampled product. No illnesses have been reported to date.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Soybean Sprouts, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Sprouts to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
