According to the ACCC, conductive parts of the recalled Ceiling Fans may not be effectively earthed, as the motor cover was not manufactured to specifications. In some instances the earth connection from the motor housing does not continue to the motor shaft.

If this defect is present in your Ceiling Fans, a potential electric shock could occur if a live wire were to come into contact with exposed unearthed metal parts.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Ceiling Fans, please do not use them nor touch them. Instead, kindly contact Crestwind or MyFan on 1300 469 326 for further instructions.

Please note: always use appropriate personal protective equipment (“PPE”) when working with electrical fixtures, including gloves and protective eye ware. Ensure all circuits are turned off at the panel before working with any electrical appliance or lighting fixture.
