Canada/Ottawa: Uncle T Foods Corn Snack Recall [Canada]Uncle T Foods Inc. recalls certain batch/lots of various Imported Corn Snacks due to undeclared Eggs, Gluten, Peanuts, Soy and Wheat, all known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Corn Snacks are subject to this recall:

  • Hsia Hsia Chiao (Chinese only) Artificial Chicken Flavor Corn Chips, sold in 125 gram plastic bags; affected product codes: all codes where peanut, egg, gluten and wheat are not declared; UPC: 4710280212234
  • Hsia Hsia Chiao (Chinese only) Kingam Crab Flavor Corn Chips, sold in 110 gram plastic bags; affected product codes: all codes where peanut, soy and egg are not declared; affected product codes: are not declared; UPC: 4710280212241
  • Hsia Hsia Chiao (Chinese only) Corn Chips, sold in 110 gram plastic bags; affected product codes: all codes where peanut, soy, egg, gluten and wheat are not declared; UPC: 4710280212678
  • Hsia Hsia Chiao (Chinese only) Corn Chips with Chili Flavor, sold in 125 gram plastic bags; affected product codes: all codes where peanut, soy, egg, gluten and wheat are not declared; UPC: 4710280231778
  • Hsia Hsia Chiao (Chinese only) Corn Crackers, sold in 125 gram plastic bags; affected product codes: all codes where peanut, soy, egg, gluten and wheat are not declared; UPC: 4710280231778

According to the CFIA, this recall was triggered by a consumer complaint. Uncle T Foods Inc. has recalled various Imported Corn Snacks from the marketplace because they may contain Eggs, Gluten, Peanuts, Soy and Wheat ingredients not declared on the product label. People with an allergy to eggs, gluten, peanuts, soy and wheat or a sensitivity to gluten should not consume the recalled products

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession these recalled Imported Corn Snacks and could be allergic to their Eggs, Gluten, Peanuts, Soy and Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
