Additional information:
New Zealand’s Ministry of Primary Industries (“MPI”) reports the following Mozzarella Cheese Products are subject to this recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Ghiotti brand Mozzarella Buffalo Cheese, sold in 125 gram plastic tubs with a batch/lot designation of LF709 9F and use-by dates of 29/05/17, 04/06/17 and 05/06/17
  • Ghiotti brand Mozzarella Buffalo Cheese, sold in 200 gram plastic tubs with a batch/lot designation of LF709 9F and use-by dates of 29/05/17, 04/06/17 and 05/06/17
  • Ghiotti brand Mozzarella Cherry Cheese, sold in 200 gram plastic tubs with a batch/lot designation of 00172660 and use-by dates of 29/05/17, 04/06/17 and 05/06/17
  • Ghiotti brand Mozzarella Fior di Latte Cheese, sold in 125 gram plastic tubs with a batch/lot designation of LZ7100N and use-by dates of 29/05/17, 04/06/17 and 05/06/17
  • Ghiotti brand Mozzarella Fior di Latte Cheese, sold in 200 gram plastic tubs with a batch/lot designation of LZ7100S and use-by dates of 29/05/17, 04/06/17 and 05/06/17

==> No barcodes, UPCs, NZPNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the MPI, the recalled Cheeses were imported from Italy and sold in supermarkets throughout the North Island. The recall was initiated after it was suspected the date mark on each Cheese Product was applied to the product in New Zealand, rather than at the time of known manufacture.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, contamination or spoilage. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cheeses, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
