The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Extra Strong Mints are subject to recall:

  • Uncle Joe’s Liquorice & Aniseed Extra Strong Mints, sold in 35 gram tins with an expiry date of 30 June 2018 and a batch/lot code of TC16015

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, William Santus & Co. has recalled certain batch/lots of Uncle Joe’s Liquorice & Aniseed Extra Strong Mints because they may contain small pieces of metal, a potential safety risk.

If plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
