The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Kelly Oysters are subject to this recall:

  • Kelly Oysters branded Gigas Oysters, sold in 70 to 90 gram portions with a product code of 17-MA-05

According to the CFIA, DOM International Limited has recalled certain Kelly Oysters brand Gigas Oysters from the marketplace due to the suspected presence of Domoic Acid, a marine biotoxin that causes Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning. You should not consume, and retailers, hotels, restaurants and institutions should not sell, serve or use the recalled Oysters identified above.

The affected product may have been sold at retail at the following locations in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec during the period shown above. Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased affected product should check with your retailer. Retailers, hotels, restaurants and institutions are advised to check the tags or labels on Oyster packages or with their supplier to determine if they have the affected product.

  • Daily Seafood, 135 Blake Street, Toronto, Ontario, sold from May 8 to May 12, 2017, inclusively
  • Diana’s Seafood Delight, 2101 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, sold from May 8 to May 12, 2017, inclusively
  • Profishionals 153, avenue Mozart est, Montreal, Quebec, sold from May 7 to May 12, 2017, inclusively
  • Seacore Seafood / Seafood Depot, 81 Aviva Park Drive, Vaughan, Ontario, sold from May 8 to May 12, 2017, inclusively

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Kelly Oysters brand Gigas Oysters, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
