Additional information:
The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Vanilla Extract is subject to recall:

  • The Pantry brand Madagascan Vanilla Extract, sold in 38 ml bottles with a best-before date of 12 December 2017 and a batch code of L7058

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs, or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the FSA, Aldi has recalled certain batch/lots of Madagascan Vanilla Extract because they were incorrectly packed with Moroccan Almond Extract, a different product with a different formulation. Although the labels around the neck of the recalled bottles refer (correctly) to Moroccan Almond Extract, the product may still be a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to Almond Nuts.

==> For information about Nut Allergy (including Peanuts and Tree Nuts), please consult the “Allergens & Intolerances” tab at the top of this page.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Vanilla Extract and could be allergic to their Almond Extract ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
