Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Chicken Sausage Products are subject to this recall:

  • Perdue Harvestland Italian Style Organic Chicken Sausages, sold in 24-ounce plastic packages each containing eight (8) links of fully cooked ready to eat (“RTE”) Chicken Sausages bearing package code 64405 and a sell-or-freeze-by date code of 6/25/17.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the problem was discovered on May 5, 2017, when the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) was notified by Perdue Foods that it had received three (3) consumer complaints of blue plastic materials in the Chicken Sausage.

At press time, there have been no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption of these Chicken Sausage Products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness, however, should contact a healthcare provider on an urgent basis.

If plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Perdue Harvestland Chicken Sausages, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
