The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Veal, Beef and Pork are subject to this recall:

  • Veal Boneless Trimmings Halal, sold in 60-pound cases with a case code of 5398 and a manufacturer date of 04/11/2017
  • Veal Trimmings USDA Choice, sold in 60-pound cases with a case code of 98 and a manufacturer date of 04/11/17
  • Veal, Beef, Pork Ground for Meatloaf, sold in 9-pound cases with a case code of 3122 and a sell-by date of 05/05/17
  • Veal, Beef, Pork Ground for Meatloaf, sold in 10-pound cases with a case code of 3125 but no specified sell-by date

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, these Veal, Beef and Pork products were distributed to retail stores and food service locations in Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.

The problem was discovered when the Illinois State Meat Inspection Service notified US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) on May 2, 2017, about positive non-O157 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (“STEC”) samples made with source material produced by Marcho Farms, Inc. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Veal, Beef and Pork, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
