Canada/Ottawa: Aunt Jemima Frozen Waffle & Frozen French Toast Recall [Canada]Pinnacle Foods Canada Corporation recalls certain batch/lots of Aunt Jemima Frozen Waffles & Frozen French Toast Slices due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential bacterial infection, a serious health hazard. Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Waffles and French Toast are subject to this recall:

  • Aunt Jemima brand Waffles, sold in 144-count packages weighing 3.57 kilograms; affected product codes: all current batch/lot and product codes; UPC: 1 00 19600 43575 1
  • Aunt Jemima brand Original Thin French Toast, sold in 144-count packages weighing 6.1 kilograms; affected product codes: all current batch/lot and product codes; UPC: 0 00 19600 05870 0
  • Aunt Jemima brand Thick French Toast, sold in 72-count packages weighing 4.86 kilograms; affected product codes: all current batch/lot and product codes; UPC: 0 00 19600 43560 0

Please note: the photograph supplied above references certain Aunt Jemima branded products sold in the United States as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency did not supply an appropriate Canadian graphic with its recall.

According to the CFIA, this recall was initiated after an analogous recall in the United States.

==> For information about Listeriosis (Listeria poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Aunt Jemima Frozen Waffles or Frozen French Toast Slices, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Similarly, distributors, retailers and food service establishments such as hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals and nursing homes should not sell or use Aunt Jemima Frozen Waffles and/or Frozen French Toast Slices.

Please note: similar Aunt Jemima products have been recalled in the United States for the same reason, specifically suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential bacterial infection.
