The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Cheeses are subject to this recall:

  • Pezzetta brand Montasio DOP Cheese, sold in variable sizes from March 24, 2017 to May 1, 2017 inclusive, with variable UPCs. The recalled Cheese was sold from the following retail locations:
    • In Ontario: Del Fresh Foods, 6923 Steeles Avenue West, Unit 43-44, Etobicoke, ON or 24 Steinway Boulevard, Unit 43-44, Etobicoke, ON
    • In Quebec: Importation Berchicci Ltée, 6205 Boulevard Couture, Saint-Léonard, QC

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, it has recalled certain batch/lots of Pezzetta brand Montasio DOP Cheese from the marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. You should not consume the recalled product identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cheeses, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
