The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Shellfish are subject to recall:

  • Bleikers Cooked & Peeled Coldwater Prawns, sold in 180 gram bags with a batch/lot identifier of 78M and a use-by date of 25 May 2017
  • Bleikers Tiger Prawns, sold in 150 gram bags with a batch/lot identifier of 78N and a use-by date of 25 May 2017

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs, or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, the recalled Shellfish products have been labelled with an incorrect use-by date of 25 May 2017 rather than 25 April 2017. This means these Shellfish products can be inadvertently eaten past the date by which they can be safely consumed.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Prawns, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
