The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Potato Chips are subject to this recall:

  • Single Bag Retail Bag SKUs:
    • Jalapeño Flavored Lay’s Kettle Cooked Potato Chips, sold with a “guaranteed fresh” date code of JUL 4 or earlier printed on the front upper panel of the package
    • Jalapeño Flavored Miss Vickie’s Kettle Cooked Potato Chips, sold with a “guaranteed fresh” date code of JUL 4 or earlier printed on the front upper panel of the package
  • Multi-pack Retail Bag SKUs:
    • 12-count Lay’s Kettle Cooked Multipack Sack Potato Chips, sold with a “guaranteed fresh” date code of JUL 4 or earlier printed on the front upper panel of the individual Potato Chip packages and a use-by date code of JUN 20 or before, printed on the multipack packages.
    • 20-count Frito-Lay Bold Mix Sack Potato Chips, sold with a “guaranteed fresh” date code of JUL 4 or earlier printed on the front upper panel of the individual Potato Chip packages and a use-by date code of JUN 20 or before, printed on the multipack packages.
    • 30-count Miss Vickie’s Multipack Tray Potato Chips, sold with a “guaranteed fresh” date code of JUL 4 or earlier printed on the front upper panel of the individual Potato Chip packages and a use-by date code of JUN 20 or before, printed on the multipack packages.
    • 30-count Lay’s Kettle Cooked Multipack Tray Potato Chips, sold with a “guaranteed fresh” date code of JUL 4 or earlier printed on the front upper panel of the individual Potato Chip packages and a use-by date code of JUN 20 or before, printed on the multipack packages.
    • 32-count Miss Vickie’s Multipack Box Potato Chips, sold with a “guaranteed fresh” date code of JUL 4 or earlier printed on the front upper panel of the individual Potato Chip packages and a use-by date code of JUN 20 or before, printed on the multipack packages.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Frito-Lay has recalled select batch/lots of Jalapeño Flavored Lay’s Kettle Cooked Potato Chips and Jalapeño Flavored Miss Vickie’s Kettle Cooked Potato Chips due to the potential presence of Salmonella in the seasoning mix.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Potato Chips, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Chips to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
