US/Silver Spring: La Granja Inc. recalls certain batch/lots of Mango Flavored Ice Cream due to suspected Salmonella Enteritidis contamination and consequential bacterial infection, a serious health hazard. FDA: http://ht.ly/AIer30aZZsN

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Ice Cream are subject to this recall:
- Paleteria Mango Flavored Ice Cream, sold in popsicle format and packed in clear bags with the La Granja logo with expiration date codes of “210218” (indicating February 21, 2018) and “280218” (indicated February 28, 2018) and a UPC of 0010439212.
Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Ice Cream Popsicles can be found on the Web site above.
According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after a routine sampling by The Georgia Department of Agriculture tested positive for Salmonella Enteritidis, a gram negative bacteria capable of causing harmful bacterial infection. La Granja has ceased the production and distribution of the recalled Ice Cream Popsicles as the FDA and the company continue their investigation as to what caused the problem.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Mango Flavored Ice Cream, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Ice Cream to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
