UK/London: Nestlé recalls certain batch/lots of Kitkat Original Milk Chocolate Bites due to suspected mislabelling and consequential undeclared Peanuts and Tree Nuts, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. FSA: http://ht.ly/1jBM30aVYQx
The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Chocolate Confections are subject to recall:
- Kitkat Original Milk Chocolate Bites, sold in 104 gram pouch bags, with a batch/lot code of 70720457V2 and a best-before end date of December 2017
==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs, or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.
Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Chocolates are pictured on the Web site above.
According to the FSA, Nestlé has recalled one (1) batch/lot of its Kitkat Original Milk Chocolate Bites because they have, in fact, been mispacked with Kitkat Peanut Butter Bites, a food product made with Peanuts and Tree Nuts but not declared on the label due to a production error.
==> For information about Nut Allergy (including Peanuts and Tree Nuts), please consult the “Allergens & Intolerances” tab at the top of this page.
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Chocolate Confections and could be allergic to their Peanut and/or Tree Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
