Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Pool Slides are subject to this recall:

  • Helix Residential Pool Slides, residential pool slides measuring 2.23 meters tall at their highest point with a helix (i.e., corkscrew) shape to its slide or flume. The brands and manufacturer designations, “SR Smith” and “Helix” as well as the individual Slide’s serial number can be found on the product label located on the top right side of the Slide near the staircase rail. The recalled Slides have serial numbers that range from SR-HX13-01001 to SR-HX13-01488 and from SR-HX14-01001 to SR-HX14-01602.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs, or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Pool Slide can be found on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, people who use the recalled Slide may exit the lower section of the Slide (i.e., the flume) before reaching the intended pool entry point, that is, the actual bottom portion of the Slide. If this occurs, and the person using the Slide exits the unit prematurely, he or she can hit the pool deck rather than the water and suffer a serious injury.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Residential Pool Slides, please do not use them. The Slide does not need to be removed from the pool deck, just rendered temporarily inoperative. Instead, owners will be sent a free Slide rail extension kit, a device that adds height to the lower section of the outer slide wall to prevent people exiting the Slide before entering the pool.

This kit is currently in production and registered owners will be notified when it is available. The kit and detailed installation instructions will be sent and a video will be posted on the company’s Web site outlining the installation of the kit. The company says the slide rail extension kit can be installed by Slide owners in approximately 20 minutes.
