US/Silver Spring: Sunshine Bakery recalls certain batch/lots of Cassava Cakes and Mixed Nut Mooncakes due to undeclared Almond Nut, Cashew Nut, Coconut, Peanut and Sunflower Seeds, all known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Baked Goods are subject to this recall:
- The Cassava Cakes (cut in either red/yellow strips; or brown squares) are packaged on a white foam plate, covered in clear plastic wrap. They have a printed label on top and the best-by date is printed on the label.
- The Mixed Nut Mooncakes are individually packaged in clear wrap, with a printed label on top and the best-by date is printed on the label.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.
According to the FDA, the Cassava Cakes and Mixed Nut Mooncakes were recalled because the labeling does not declare the following food allergens: Almond Nut, Cashew Nut, Coconut, Peanut. In addition, some of the recalled Baked Goods also contain Sunflower Seeds, to which some people are sensitive and/or intolerant.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession these recalled Cakes and could be allergic to their Almond Nut, Cashew Nut, Coconut, Peanut and Sunflower Seeds ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
