US/Silver Spring: ChloroFields recalls an estimated 20 cases of Asian Microgreens due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risk of bacterial infection, a serious health hazard. FDA: http://ht.ly/xt7J30acrRg

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Microgreens are subject to this recall:
- ChloroFields brand Asian Mix Microgreens, sold in 1.5 ounce clamshells with a sell-by date of 3/26/2017 (located on a white sticker on the bottom of the container) and a UPC of 853763007096. The recalled Microgreens were distributed throughout Colorado, Kansas and Missouri and were made available through retail grocery stores.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after routine examinations conducted by the FDA revealed the finished Microgreens product contained bacteria that causes Salmonella. Chlorofields along with the FDA is continuing an investigation as to what caused the problem; the company has ceased distributing this product.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled the Asian Mix Microgreens, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Microgreens to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
