Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cheeses are subject to this recall:

  • Vulto Creamery brand Andes, Hamden and Walton Umber Raw Milk Cheeses that were cut and packaged at Whole Foods stores in clear plastic wrap with scale labels beginning with PLU codes 0200307, 0201357 or 0206308 and sell-by dates ranging from 01/02/2017 to 04/02/2017.

==> No barcodes, UPCs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, due to Vulto Creamery’s expanded recall of certain Raw Milk Cheeses, Whole Foods Market has expanded its recall to include all Andes, Hamden and Walton Umber cheeses sold in eight stores in Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.

Vulto Creamery has reported the particular strain of Listeria monocytogenes may be responsible for six (6) illnesses and two (2) deaths; however, Whole Foods Market has not received any reports of illnesses or injuries from consumers who purchased the Raw Milk Cheeses from their stores.

These products were sold at the following Whole Foods Market stores:

  • 94 Derby Street, Hingham, MA
  • 1255 Raritan Road Unit 150, Clark, NJ
  • 300 Bergen Town Center, Paramus, NJ
  • 238 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY
  • 1095 Avenue of the Americas. New York, NY
  • 270 Greenwich Street, New York, NY
  • 4 Union Square South, New York, NY
  • 575 Boston Post Road, Port Chester, NY

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cheeses, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Cheese to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
