According to the FDA, Vulto Creamery has expanded its original recall of four (4) types of Cheeses to include all lots for four additional cheeses which include the following: Andes, Blue Blais, Hamden & Walton Umber.
Originally, the company had recalled all lots of Ouleout, Miranda, Heinennellie and Willowemoc Soft, Wash-Rind Raw Milk Cheeses after the FDA found that Ouleout lot #617 had tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes and New York Department of Agriculture and Markets’ finding possible Listeria contamination of Ouleout lot #623.
The particular strain of Listeria monocytogenes found by New York Department of Agriculture and Markets testing was found to be similar to the strain isolated from a cluster outbreak of Listeriosis responsible for six (6) known illnesses and two (2) confirmed deaths.
